Make It Fit

We measured the space for the refrigerator and it supposed to just fit. We could have purchased a smaller refrigerator but we wanted this size because of the larger freezer space and the ice and water in the door.  Not all spaces are perfectly square but we anticipated that. We planned to cut out one side of the sheet rock and replace it with lauan (thin plywood sheet of mahogany) to make it fit. The refrigerator now fits and we'll add a molding around the outside edges to disguise the cut on the left side. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. Perfect fit! When I was in my 20's and bought a house we measured the fridge space, but not in multiple places. When the new fridge was delivered the space was so out of plumb that the delivery guys were afraid the fridge would get scratched if they forced it in. They left it in the middle of the kitchen for my husband to deal with when he came home. Somehow we managed to get it in!

  2. Well done. And the tight fit means that things are less likely to get behind or beside it. Which is a win.

  3. Hi Michele, thanks, you would think I'd have learned I did the same thing with the closet and have to go back and get the shelves recut. Ha.

Hi Elephant's Child, thanks, somehow things always seem to get back there don't they, like dust. Ha.
